“Brian is coming to Almeria to advance the promotion to the Spanish top flight,” said LAFC Co-President and General Manager John Thorrington. “Since arriving in 2019, Brian has been a focus of our attack and a huge reason for our success. This move gives him a great opportunity to play important games at the highest level in European football.”
Rodriguez, 20, joined Major League Soccer in 2019 from Uruguay’s Penarol. In his first two seasons in Los Angeles, Rodriguez scored three goals in 25 games.
He has scored three goals in nine games for Uruguay and appears for La Celeste during their final qualifiers for the CONMEBOL World Cup.
With 16 games remaining, Almería are currently third in the LaLiga 2 standings with a 14-3-5 record (45 points). At the end of the season, the two best teams will automatically advance to the highest Spanish league, while a third team will advance from a playoff round between the teams that come from 3rd to 6th place.
LAFC also announced the signing of 20-year-old goalkeeper Tomas Romero.
