Southampton is on the verge of an agreement with Everton to sign Theo Walcott on loan, with the winger poised to move into the St.
The two clubs are expected to pay half the striker’s salary each and Southampton has until 11pm on Monday to finalize a move for their former player.
Walcott joined Everton from Arsenal in January 2018 for a fee of around £ 20m and played 85 games for the club.
However, he’s in the final year of his contract and doesn’t seem key to Carlo Ancelotti’s plans this season as he only played 12 minutes of Everton’s first four Premier League games.
Walcott – who has played 47 caps for England – began his career at Southampton before joining Arsenal in 2006.
Southampton remain active in the transfer market as the deadline approaches and signed 21-year-old midfielder Ibrahima Diallo from French club Brest on Sunday.
The club have also shown interest in Everton midfielder Tom Davies, Toulouse’s Ibrahim Sangare and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek as Ralph Hasenhuttl continues to search for a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who previously joined Tottenham.
They also made an approach to loaning Brandon Williams out, though it is believed that Manchester United would insist that the 20-year-old full-back be guaranteed a certain number of games before he can move to St. Mary’s.
