After being confined indoors, locked up for several months, the world is becoming a new normal. Our beloved past times that we often took for granted have returned and our desire for freedom is infused with new enthusiasm. To celebrate, Salvatore Ferragamo invites us to dance.
The French actor and director Jean-Louis Barrault believes that “To dance is to fight against everything that holds us back, everything that demeans us (…), it is to use our body to discover the very essence and the spirit of life; it means making physical contact with freedom.
This month, Ferragamo unveiled ‘Let’s Dance’, a capsule collection of shoes that combine lightness and comfort to really dance until sunrise. Ranging from black to sunshine yellow, lipstick to gold, silver and orange, the styles have been crafted in a range of different designs and styles to bring new exuberance.
The capsule launch features a short film that depicts a symbolic dialogue between dance and the upcoming collection. The film is directed by American director Danielle Lessovitz, recognized worldwide and notably at the Cannes Film Festival 2019. Three contemporary dancers – Anita Lorusso, Naomi Weijand and Tania Dimbelolo – present a series of performances in ensemble and solo. Present on the shoes, the gradient effect, the micro-rhinestone details and the sequins create a symphony of light.
The Let’s Dance range includes ballerinas with a metal buckle and logo; an ultra-soft and light lace in nappa leather with elastic inserts for extreme flexibility; a Gancini moccasin in the same style. An archival-inspired refracted high-heel sandal with tiny geometrically woven leather bands upper, also available with a thin ankle strap lower heel; a pump with thick heel and laser-engraved shank; and finally, a soft nappa boot with a refracted block heel.
In addition to the short film, the Italian house invites you to participate in TikTok Ferragamo Dance Challenge. From mid-June, everyone can follow the tutorials of the three dancers, try out the different choreographies, film themselves and post with the hashtag #FerragamoDanceChallenge. The best videos will be reposted on the brand’s TikTok and Instagram accounts.
