Nike shines its Air Force 1 with chunky ’80s lace gems

Nike’s Air Force 1 is best known as an everyday staple or a trusted benchmark. Now, the brand is making sure consumers can wear its classic sneakers virtually anywhere by dressing the Air Force 1 in additional jewelry and textures. Aptly named ‘Bling’, the new iteration is also reminiscent of vintage glamor with its yellowed soles and mesh tongue.

Beaded jewelry has taken over streetwear looks, and Nike shoes are no exception. So far, the brand has translated the trend into an Air Max 1 charm bracelet and an Air Jordan 6 inspired by gold hoops. With consumers looking to don more and more bling, sneakers cannot be left naked.

80s bling – Opting for a minimal upper, the Air Force 1 “Bling” is dressed in its usual white leather, while its Swooshes and heels feature an elephant texture for added dimension. ‘Distressed’ yellow soles and an extended yellow mesh tongue further differentiate the sneaker from its usual look, responding to vintage sneaker trends.

Yellow and purple jewelry, similar to costume jewelry from the ’80s, is interwoven into the lacing unit of the left shoe to add a bit of namesake bling to the Air Force 1. Each charm has a black Swoosh graphic to the left. inside its gem, while a third gold-dazzled Swoosh gem – makes the concept clearer.

The vintage-looking sneakers are complemented by mismatched designer insoles, which complement the purple and yellow colors of the lace jewelry. Alternatively, the Nike branding on the heel tab of the shoe remains white to keep the AF1 stylish.

Drip soon – Nike’s luxurious “Bling” sneaker is expected to launch in the coming weeks on the brand’s website and at select retailers for $ 120. Those interested in the dazzling sneaker should act quickly – dealers recently adopted the Air Force 1 model, and this bling-out version may be no exception.

But unlike other Nike models, this one is pretty do-it-yourself, meaning that a fumble drop isn’t the end of the world. You can add your own luxurious touch to the AF1 sneaker by adding pearls, craft store jewelry or even real gemstones to the lace unit. Overall, the add-ons will likely complement your $ 90 AF1 for the same price as the “Bling” sneaker – but the look will be entirely yours.
