The good news keeps coming, with more international touring information this morning for those of us keen to pull out our best leather jackets and do a boogie next year. It’s an absolute pleasure to share with you that New York rock icons The Strokes are giving a few extra gigs while they’re in town, in Sydney and Melbourne in July.
Imagine, real live concerts with gigantic iconic bands, finally back in Australian arenas and large-scale venues. You really like to see it.
The Strokes will be in Australia to make the Saturday night headlines of Splendor In The Grass in Byron next year, so while they’re in town they’ve decided to do a few cheeky shows at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion and John’s. Cain Arena in Melbourne. My God, the Splendor sideshows are announced – it’s like no time has passed.
I can already hear that opening bass riff of ‘Juice box‘just screaming out of the stacked amps and rippling through every hair on my body.
Really complementing the vibe of these two huge shows, The Strokes will bring The Chats and The Lazy Eyes as their mediums, which will no doubt turn this into a big, sweaty, beer-soaked party. Exactly what we all need and deserve after so long without a rowdy mosh pit in our lives.
After performing their big set in the Splendor Amphitheater on Saturday night, the Strokes will travel to Melbourne for an arena show on Tuesday July 26, then travel to Sydney for a classic Hordern Pavilion spot on Thursday July 28. I can ‘I don’t even express to you how nice it is to write about the festival performances by setting dates again at the Hordern. It is happiness, my good bitches.
Tickets for both shows go on sale from 9 a.m. local time on Tuesday, November 9 on the Secret Sounds website, and a cheeky presale also takes place from 12 p.m. local time on Monday, November 8. Finally, it’s time to organize the group discussion, figure out your plan of attack, warm up your fingers by clicking the mouse and / or pressing the buttons because we are to here people. Get the fuck IN.
