Elton John’s plane forced to make emergency landing

Elton John’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing after suffering a “hydraulic failure” mid-flight.

The plane was about an hour’s drive from England to New York when the trouble started. He backtracked and flew back to Farnborough Airport, about an hour south of London. However, high winds – with gusts reportedly exceeding 80 miles per hour – made the return extremely difficult.

“Terrible weather and epic gusts made it almost impossible to land. Two attempts to land failed,” an eyewitness told The sun. “The plane was rocking and couldn’t make it. The nose of the plane was way too vertical. The plane was descending and was halfway down the runway when it gave up on touching the tarmac. He flew into the air.

When the first landing attempt proved too dangerous, the pilot elected to pull back up and close in for additional attempts. As this happened, the emergency team, including fire and rescue services, prepared on the ground. At the same time, word began to spread about the plane attempting to land.

“A crowd had gathered after word got out that Elton was in trouble. And as the plane returned for a second landing attempt, the storm was doing its worst,” the witness explained. The airport windsock was horizontal and the aircraft was buffeted from side to side by the wind.”

After the second attempt resulted in another balked landing, the pilot was finally able to land safely on the third attempt.

Impressively, the ordeal did not deter Elton. The rocker quickly caught another flight to New York, where he was scheduled to perform at Madison Square Garden tonight and tomorrow (February 22 and 23) as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

“It was a white-knuckled ride and Elton was shaken up. But he put aside any personal angst to get back on a plane,” a source told The sun. “For Elton, literally, the show must go on.”
