Nike Air Force 1 Low “Black Patent” (40th Anniversary)

The 40th anniversary of the Nike Air Force 1 has yet to deliver many actual drops, but it has already built up considerable anticipation. With a roster of collaborators including Drake and Stussy, the design’s celebration lineup proves to be one for the ages.

The Swoosh, however, doesn’t leave all the fun to its extended family. As seen from the dozens of non-collaborative colorways that have been teased over the past few months, the North American institution is pulling out all the stops for the Air Force 1 milestone, even if that means doing the bulk of the work on its own. A newly redone pair indulge in regal gold accents, black-hued patent leather at the profile swooshes, and upper heel tabs. “Cracked” leather covers the toe box and midfoot overlays, appearing to nod to the silhouette’s endurance to stand the test of time. Finally, bling-worthy accessories appear on the laces, adding yet another touch of luxury to one of the most iconic shoe designs of all time.

Details of the Nike SNKRS launch have not been disclosed by the brand, but that is expected to change as summer approaches. In the meantime, enjoy a very early look at the upcoming pair, courtesy of Instagram user @apolloluo1976.
