Balenciaga will present its Spring-Summer 2023 collection in New York on May 21. The Parisian fashion house, which operates under French parent company Kering, has yet to announce the location or further details of the show.
Creative director Demna’s decision to move the presentation overseas marks the latest step for the industry in its return to pre-pandemic destination fashion shows. Pucci has announced that it will present its first Camille Miceli creations in Capri on April 28, and Dior will hold a runway show in Seoul on April 30 for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Pre-Fall 2022 range.
Additionally, Chanel has booked a show in Monaco on May 5; Gucci has booked May 16 for a presentation at an undisclosed European location; Louis Vuitton flies to Southern California on May 12, and Kim Jones has scheduled the unveiling of her latest menswear collection for Dior in Los Angeles on May 19.
Last month, Balenciaga debuted its 360° Winter 2022 collection during Paris Fashion Week in an oversized snow globe where models rode through a faux blizzard. There, the French imprint debuted a slew of bold silhouettes, including reinvented iterations of leather jackets, bombers, denim and track jackets, as well as a range of turtlenecks, trousers and oversized and distressed jersey hoodies, among several other designs.
