A Collingwood car showroom has been turned into a wheelie market and nightclub

A former Honda showroom on Hoddle Street in Collingwood has been transformed into a craft market and retro wheelie disco, with monthly events starting July 31.

Collingwood’s first craft market, by Melbourne market company ‘Bourne Local’, is set to kick off on Sunday July 31 and will feature a retro roller disco, local Victorian merchants, offering a mix of eclectic and eco-friendly fashion, accessories, home decor and beauty. ‘Bourne Local says the venue has had a facelift, with a chic industrial backdrop and all-weather space.

The market will take over the former Honda show site at 21-53 Hoddle Street in what owners say will reinvigorate Collingwood’s east month for the rest of 2022. Vendors include the likes of Daffi Leather, offering belts and handcrafted leather goods, Faux & Belle, faux fur fashions, and SÃO Homewares, featuring ethical, handmade homewares from independent artisans and Brazilian indigenous communities.

Best of all, visitors will have the chance to skate and dance around a full-size roller rink hosted by The Roller Disco, the Collingwood locals behind the suburban roller disco scene. There will also be live music on July 31 from local nu-jazz band, Trio JK, as well as eclectic beats from beloved PBS DJ Shio.

There will be food and drink offered by Cheeky Rascal Cider as well as Rollies Donuts for baked goodies, Hamsa Hummus Bar for plant-based treats and Crepes-Oohlicious. The Collingwood Winter Craft Market will be the first in a themed series – the owners hint at mulled wine in winter and fresh flowers in spring – on the last Sunday of every month, from July to December.
