BMW has launched the 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition for a price of Rs. 67,50,000/- (ex-showroom). This is cheaper than the M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition By Rs. 1.4 Lakhs and 6 Series 50 Jahre M Edition by Rs. 5.4,000,000.
BMW is commemorating the 50th anniversary of its “M” performance division this year and to celebrate it, the brand is launching up to 10 special editions of its M and M sports cars in India.
Produced locally at the BMW Group factory in Chennai, the 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition is offered in a petrol variant – BMW 530i M Sport. Available only in limited numbers, the bespoke model can be reserved online from today.
The new edition features large, clean and taut surfaces. Above the signature grille is the M emblem as well as the “50 Years of M” door projector inspired by the classic “BMW Motorsport” logo.
In addition, BMW Laserlight, unique in this segment, distributes the light perfectly up to 650 meters and is accentuated by the M Lights Shadowline which offers a dark tint around the headlights.
The sporty sedan receives aerodynamically optimized body elements from the M sports package. Distinct wheel arches give a dynamic appearance to the side profile of the car. At the rear, the new L-shaped light graphic emerges from the taillight in a three-dimensional form.
The special edition sports 18-inch 662M Jet Black alloy wheels with Red M sports brake calipers. The car is available in M Carbon Black, Bernina Gray Amber Effect, Phytonic Blue and Alpine White paint colors combined with upholstery Sensatec Perforated in Cognac finish with contrast stitching.
Customers can further add detail to the car with the optional M accessory packs. The Racer Pack offers an exterior upgrade that includes black side skirt transfers, a matte black rear spoiler and key fob.
The Motorsport Pack offers carbon fiber exterior mirror caps and the Carbon Pack offers a carbon fiber finish to the grille, rear spoiler, mirror caps and more.
Inside, the special edition receives sports seats with leather upholstery, seat belts with stitching in M colors, a sports leather steering wheel, specific trim strips and ergonomically optimized lumbar support.
The center console features new interior trim in Piano Black and a black ceramic surround for the controls. There is an ambient lighting system with 6 dimmable designs. The luggage compartment has a capacity of up to 600 liters extending up to 1,800 litres.
Power comes from a 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 252bhp and 350Nm with a 0-60mph time of 6.1 seconds. The engine is mated to an 8-speed sport steptronic automatic transmission with paddle shifters and cruise control.
Features on offer include BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Operating System on a 12.3-inch all-digital instrument display behind the steering wheel and a 12.3-inch Control Display.
Passengers can operate several functions simply by talking to the BMW Virtual Assistant. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensure seamless smartphone connection while the Harman Kardon surround sound system provides an immersive experience.
Driving assistance systems include parking assistant, reversing assistant, attention assistance and comfort access system. In addition, there are features such as automatic start-stop and brake energy regeneration.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control with Dynamic Traction Control and Electronic Differential Lock Control, Cornering Brake Control, Electric Parking Brake with auto-hold, crash sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounting.
